Dual Fluorescence Cell Counting
The LUNA-FL™ Dual Fluorescence Cell Counter from Logos Biosystems is a quantum leap forward for automated cell counting and cell viability analysis. The LUNA-FL™ Dual Fluorescence Cell Counter gives you sensitive and accurate live/dead counts without cell type restrictions. Unlike immortalized cell lines, primary cells such as PBMCs, splenocytes, neutrophils, and stem cells have been difficult to count with conventional cell counters such as the Coulter counter or automated image-based cell counters utilizing bright field optics. Primary cells are often contaminated with undesirable debris that can be miscounted as cells with conventional cell counters. The LUNA-FL™ is equipped with dual fluorescence optics to overcome this problem. Live and dead cells are stained with green and red fluorescence dye, respectively, and subsequent cell images are analyzed with accurate image analyzing software

Bright Field Optics For Trypan Blue Cell Counting
The LUNA-FL™ has inherited the proven performance of the LUNA™. The precision bright field optics of the LUNA™ has been integrated into the LUNA-FL™ to provide the convenience of trypan blue cell counting. The powerful and precise cell counting algorithm of the LUNA™ is used in the LUNA-FL™ LUNA-FL™ = LUNA™ + Dual fluorescence cell counter
Cell Counting Accuracy: Declustering
The LUNA-II™ automated cell counting algorithm has been recognized to have the best-in-class cell counting accuracy. The LUNA™ software has exceptional accuracy in cell de-clustering and can successfully count clumpy cells. The LUNA-II™ automated cell counter has inherited this well-known performance aspect of the LUNA™ software. Clumpy cells are de-clustered quickly and automatically, then counted as individual cells.
GFP Transfection Efficiency Assay
With the LUNA-FL™ Dual Fluorescence Cell Counter, GFP expression analysis takes less than 30 seconds. Bright field and fluorescence cell images are analyzed to detect GFP-positive and negative cells, and a corresponding fluorescence intensity histogram is displayed for further analysis. The LUNA-FL™ Dual Fluorescence Cell Counter is integrated with on-board flow cytometry type gating software. Be confident in the accuracy of your results by adjusting the threshold of fluorescence intensity.
Reduced Running Cost
Automated cell counters utilize disposable counting slides to eliminate washing steps of manual cell counting with the glass hemocytometer. Although disposable cell counting slides have several advantages, the increased running cost has been a substantial concern. Logos Biosystems developed a patented T-BOND technology to manufacture precision cell counting slides more efficiently. Therefore, the unit price of counting slides became much more affordable, providing significant cost savings.
Compact and Fast Thermal Printer (optional)
LUNA-FL™ provides a compact mobile printer for further record keeping purpose. Thermal roll paper or label paper can be selected. This plug & play mobile printer is ready-to-use after the USB to USB connection.
Interactive Software Interface
Options for staining methods
The LUNA-II™ automated cell counter can count samples with or without trypan blue dye. The selection of trypan blue presence
or absence can easily be chosen in the settings menu.
Cell size histogram and cell size based gating
After counting, cells can be gated based on their size information provided by the LUNA-II™. The specific size of cell populations
Can easily be included or excluded on histograms.
Cell cluster map
Counted cells can be sorted with cell cluster map, into single cells, doublets, or triplets. The cell cluster map can be used to monitor changes in culture conditions or cell isolation/preparation protocols.
Review and Re-analysis option
The LUNA-II™ automated cell counter provides a powerful review option. A separate PC unnecessary. Users can open cell images directly on the LUNA-II™ automated cell counter to check previous results.
Various file save options
The LUNA-II™ can store up to 1,000 counts onboard. After counting, the result is automatically saved in the memory, and previous count results can be exported via USB as a .CSV file for further analysis. The results and image data can be saved in three different file formats such as TIF, annotated TIF, or a PDF report file. The PDF report file contains all the data generated during/after the cell counting, i.e., the protocol used, cell counting results, date, raw/analyzed cell image(s), and histograms are included in the PDF report file.

The Next Generation of Blue Light Transilluminators. Works with gels up to 20cm x 16cm.
New England BioGroup, LLC is proud to offer the UltraBright-LED, a new generation of blue light transilluminator. The UltraBright-LED has two side-mounted high intensity LED arrays. This produces uniform and bright excitation at 470nm making it suitable for a wide range of dyes.
The UltraBright-LED is compatible with the following dyes: GelGreen, SYBR Green, SYBR Gold, SYBR Safe, UltraSafe Blue and even ethidium bromide stained DNA gels. Gels up to 20 x 16cm can be viewed. The use of special filter material built into the lid of the UltraBright transilluminator greatly enhances the contrast of bands providing the optimum viewing conditions that are ideal for image capture and band cutting.
UltraBright-LED is powered using a universal voltage, 24V power supply. The overall dimensions are 33.0W x 28.0Dx 9.0H cm. The UltraBright-LED can be used in a Syngene G:BOX or as a stand-alone unit.
Safe to use and does not damage DNA
Despite the increased interest in “safe/non-toxic” DNA gel stains such as SYBR Safe or GelGreen, many labs still use UV transilluminators on the bench. Exposure to UV can cause sunburns to skin or eyes. Additionally, UV can accidentally crosslink and damage your DNA. As the UltraSlim, or UltraBright, units use blue light, there is no risk of sunburn or damage to DNA. Simply put, this is a safer system to use on the bench. To read more about safety of blue light transilluminators, please click here.
Why buy this product
- High Sensitivity
Using 224 high intensity LEDs, the UltraBright-LED illuminates a wide range of samples, producing fluorescence in even the faintest of bands. The illumination is high intensity and uniform, giving high quality images for publication or analysis.
- Uniformity of light distribution over the entire surface area
Our high intensity LED are placed equally on both sides of the unit (112 on each side), giving the instrument very intense and uniform light distribution over the entire surface area. Other blue light transilluminators use bulbs, or a very small array of LED bulbs which do not cover the entire surface of the viewing area. As such, light may not evenly distributed, making bands appear dimmer than they may be or, even worse, faint bands may not be visualized.
- Small footprint
The UltraBright-LED can be used as a stand-alone transilluminator and takes up very little laboratory bench space. Its overall dimensions are only 33cm x 28cm and it is easily portable to any location. The UltraBright-LED is compatible with any Syngene G:BOX system.
- Uses a wide range of dyes
The UltraBright-LED transilluminator can be used with Ethidium bromide, GelGreen, SYBR Gold, SYBR Green, SYBRSafe, SYPRO Orange, SYPRO Ruby UltraSafe Blue. (All trademarks acknowledged).

High Intensity Blue Light Transilluminator with 108 LEDs.
This exciting product uses a high intensity LED array which can illuminate a range of dyes including GelGreen, SYBRSafe, EtBr and the new UltraPower DNA safe dye. UltraSlim-LED provides a uniform and bright excitation across gels up to 10 x 12cm.
Even Illumination Over the ENTIRE Viewing Area
The UltaSlim is very compact and has two arrays of 54 high intensity 470nm blue LEDs. As the UltraSlim illuminates samples from the side, it provides a low signal to noise ratio (S/N) and extremely even illumination throughout the entire sample. A built-in filter/lid provides the optimum viewing conditions and is ideal for band cutting. Some blue light transilluminators use bulbs, which create “peaks and valleys” of light intensity. Others employ a very small array of LED bulbs mounted below the viewing area. However, the LEDs do not cover the entire surface of the viewing area. As such, light may not evenly distributed, making bands appear dimmer than they may be or, even worse, faint bands may not be visualized.
All UltraSlim-LED units are powered using a universal voltage, 24V power supply. The overall dimensions are 21.0W x 21.0D x 3.0H cm. UltraSlim-LED can be used in any Syngene darkroom or as a stand-alone unit.
